2015 Spring Hair Trends

By Alexia Gonzalez on March 11, 2015

It’s that time of the year where the snow is beginning to melt, the weather is beginning to warm, and the once brown leaves are giving way to bright new blossoming flowers. In other words, spring is around the corner!

After months of the winter blues, it’s finally time to remove those furry jackets and take off that knit beanie that you’ve been using to hide your dried out locks under.

It’s time to let your hair down in those fresh free flowing waves that we all love and make the most of your fave warm weather up-do’s and floral hair accessories.

This spring, we’re aiming for the beach inspired wet look. This means tousled waves that appear as though you’ve just stepped out of the foaming ocean onto a South Seas beach!

Sleek bobs, hippie braids, and twisted ponytails are also a must for those sunny afternoon outings. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new looks and hairstyles as a way of framing your best asset: your face.

The Messy Ponytail

A messy or twisted ponytail is a must-try this season. Whether you have naturally thick and abundant hair or thin locks, this do can provide the illusion of volume for just about any hair type.

Achieve a luscious pony through center partings or brushed back from the forehead to hang loose, or try twisting and weaving various chunks of hair on top of one another to create a messy complex appearance.

To create texture and volume, add a slick of styling crème combed through the hair and some hairspray. Check out this do-it-yourself tutorial for the perfect messy ponytail.

Bangs

Retro inspired bangs, or fringes, have made a dramatic comeback on the runways this season. A great aspect about a fringed hairstyle is that bangs can be styled in many different ways in order to best flatter the shape of your face.

Rock them wide or thick, full frontal or with a deep side part, wispier and pushed to one side, or gamine and short, whatever works and feels best for your specific facial features.

If your face has more of a square shape, try a side-parted bang to soften out sharper features’ angles. If your chin is more pronounced, opt for a curvier fringe, which helps to balance out your features.

Natural Blonde

From strawberry to champagne, there is no denying that gold locks are synonymous with warm weather and sunshine. While the ultra platinum tone dominated the runways for the past few seasons, this spring the natural blonde look is making a comeback.

In order to achieve this au naturale hue, try mixing up a range of gold and light auburn tones for the most authentic blonde. Experiment with a variety of gold tone highlights to add warmth and depth.

Boho Braids

Braids offer a relaxed yet trendy approach to spring and summer hair do’s. The best part about a braid is that your hair doesn’t have to be entirely washed in order to achieve a chic look; in fact, most braids work best with unwashed locks.

With everything from a braid crown (you can make small, overlapping intersections of braids to create a full crown), to an intricately braided ponytail, or a simple side braid, the options for complex and fashionably chic looks are endless.

Braids offer a hot look as they clear the hair from the face and give a carefree yet feminine vibe. If you’re a braiding novice, check out this braid tutorial guide for a few lessons.

Long Locks

When it comes to flowing lengths, there’s an old-Hollywood feel about it, with plenty of movement and luxurious finishes. Make it work for you by using layers to help enhance your features.

Keep them long, starting at chin length to help soften angular features or to disguise roundness. Where you place your part will also alter this style. Side parts help add softness, while center parts will give your look a glamorous 1970s feel.
