SFSU Student Center Announces Exciting News this Month
The Caesar Chavez Student Center has some new activities and restaurants to look forward to.
The current exhibit hosted at the center this month is UpCycling: Transforming Old into New through Apparel and Furniture Design. The event, set by SFSU Apparel Design and Merchandising and Interior Design students, takes waste, or items society considers to be “trash” and creates apparel, furniture, or accessories. This show, according to the student center website, “displays innovative examples of reuse to encourage awareness.”
The exhibit will run at 5 p.m. from Tuesday, April 2 until Monday, April 22, just in time for Earth Day 2013. The exhibit is free admission and hosted in the Art Gallery.
As you’re walking out the back entrance of the Caesar Chavez Center, you may have noticed that empty part of the building next to Underdog and Turtle Tower. After debating over other shops such as Auntie Anne’s, it has finally been decided what will take over the empty lot. SFSU plans to bring a new addition to their student center restaurants next fall, and you may be surprised by what it is.
If the West Portal opening wasn’t enough, Quickly is branching out even closer to SFSU students, right at our very own student center.
Unlike the Quickly located just a few Muni stops away from campus at West Portal, is is unclear whether the store will include Kobe Bento products, but with over 250 drinks to choose from with the ever-so-popular tapioca pearls, also known as boba, it’s an easy guess that students will welcome the store with open arms.
But if you’re graduating this semester, you may be in for some major disappointment, because the grand opening is set for sometime in the fall of 2013.
Are you excited for the grand opening of Quickly or is it too much too soon?
