Over time, you can start to feel bored with the way your home looks. The decor gets stale and the atmosphere of the room feels bland. This is the perfect time to revamp your space! Redecorating can be expensive, especially when it involves changing everything in the room. As a college student, there are easy ways to revamp your space without spending a fortune. With just a trip to a flea market, a weekend DIY project, and some creativity, you can revamp your space to make it feel like a brand new home.

Repaint

One of the best ways to make a room feel brand new is to paint it. You have two options when it comes to painting a room: freshen the current coat of paint or paint the walls an entirely new color. Giving the room a fresh coat of paint will make the color pop more as it will have faded over the years. When putting up a new color, try to find one that matches the decor you already have.

If you do not want to paint the entire room, think about adding an accent wall. An accent wall is one wall painted a different color than the rest. It will stand out and give the room a unique and put-together feel.

Upgrade Electrical Socket Covers

A cheap way to revamp your space is to replace your electrical socket covers with different colors or designs. Depending on how crafty you are, you can even paint or decorate your own electrical socket covers. Take a trip to your local Home Depot or Lowes and browse the different designs they have. While replacing electrical socket covers isn’t a huge change, it’s subtle enough for people to notice and compliment your decor when they do.

Switch Out Drawer Handles

Customizing furniture is a great way to revamp your space on the cheap. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new piece of furniture, simply upgrade the furniture you already have. Browse antique stores and flea markets for unique drawer handles to put on your dresser or desk. You’ll be amazed at how many different styles you can find. With just the simple act of switching out drawer handles and maybe a quick cleaning and covering up scratches, your furniture will almost feel new.

Hang Up a Bulletin Board

Nobody likes having a cluttered house, especially when that clutter consists of piles of paper. As a college student, you’re bound to have a lot of paper lying around the house and on your desk. So, kill two birds with one stone and put up a bulletin board. Not only will it add some decor to your room, but it will give you a place to hang up those papers and clear some space on your desk.

You can find a bulletin board at different stores or you can make your own. To make your own, simply buy a corkboard, find a frame, and put them together! Of course, there are other, more complicated ways to make your own bulletin board if you want to make it a weekend project.

Rearrange Your Furniture

If you’re really working on a budget to revamp your space, try rearranging your furniture. Not only is it completely free, but it will give your room an entirely new feel. This is a great option if you live with roommates because they will be able to help you decide where to put furniture and physically move it with you. Don’t be afraid to play around with different arrangements until you find the perfect set up for you.

Spruce Up Your Houseplants

Houseplants are a cheap and fun way to revamp your space. Not only do they add some greenery to your space, but you can accessorize them with different vases, holders, and placement. If you have potted plants, find some cheap stools and decorate them with stain or paint to place the plants on. Switch out old vases for new ones that match the rest of your decor. Adding these small extra details will help pull the room together and revamp your space.

Revamp Your Space

Revamping your space doesn’t need to be expensive. All you need is a few dollars, some creativity, and the will to put some effort into changing up your home. In just one weekend, you can give your space a whole new look with just some little changes. Add an accent wall to make the room pop, switch out electrical socket covers and drawer handles, put up a bulletin board to help declutter your space and add decoration, rearrange your furniture, and accessorize your house plants. With these simple tasks, you can revamp your space in no time.
